This might be my new favorite dress. I found it several months ago whilst thrifting with my friend. I loved the style, and even though I was trying really hard to save money, I bought it. Then I got it home and tried it on again. I immediately had buyer's remorse because of the length. It was two inches past the knee and looked very matronly. I pouted and hung it in my closet. Today I brought it out and knew exactly what to do. Since the only things I can sew are flat and straight, I figured I could just pin it the way I wanted it (I saw another girl do this on her blog a while back...I'm sorry that I can't remember who it was and credit them, but thanks for the amazing idea!). This is the result.

I am totally regretting not wearing brown tights at all this past fall and winter. I took these out of the package today and love how they look. They are less harsh than black would be and are more fit for a pre-spring weather day (don't let the sunshine fool you...it was chilly!).

This is the ring I was wearing. I love peacock feather motifs in fashion and design, not only because it is beautiful, but because it's naturally occurring in nature. Nature is my favorite place to look for inspiration. If I were an animal, I think I'd be a peacock...

I have some bridesmaid duties tonight with the bride, so yay! And then, thrifting tomorrow for decorations and dresses - it'll be fun!

Ohh, that dress is wonderful. I bought some hutterite dresses while thrifting recently and I'm planning to hem them, I'm just scared that I will come across a hutterite while wearing one and get a very nasty glare. i really love the collars and the sleeves, jsut no the length, it makes me look frumpy.
I love the new look of this dress!

I love this dress so much it is absolutely perfect. I'm so pleased you bought it and that you found a way for it to work. It is just the right length. I like the tights too. I have been trying to shop for tights lately but the selection we have here right now is so limited.

Cuuuute dress! Perfect for spring =)
I really like your t-strap sandals with the dress and tights. I keep wanting to wear my sandal wedges, but it's too rainy. Good luck thrifting!
this looks great!! i love the effect of the safety pins on the dress. it's so nice using pins to modify clothes- then you're not tied into things being one particular way. ~joelle
I am absolutely loving that dress!! And oooh that ring is so pretty :)
