some nights I rule the world

These days I am caught between wanting long hair a la Lady Godiva and wanting to chop it all off and spike it like nobody's business.  However, when I throw up sort of a long hair 'faux hawk' (tutorial here), it's kind of the best of both worlds.  After getting dressed, I thought I should have a 'do that was rock n' roll...to match the way I felt when wearing this outfit.  This shirt was a gift from my boss...she apparently knows about my little obsession with FUN.

alone need not be lonely

I honestly think that this dress is my favorite thrift find ever.  And I know, I probably think this about every piece I thrift, but this one seems to have withstood the test of time.  I never tire of it's bold color and pretty print.  I may love how it stands out so beautifully in the bleak midwinter more than I love how it looks among the colors of summer.

where you invest your love you invest your life

I loved pairing this beautiful dress with the oversized comfy sweater, it was such a fun combination.  Recently I'm finding myself returning over and over to my basket of crowns as the finishing touch to any outfit.  It's fun to look at my collection as I'm picking one out for the day, and it reminds me that spring is not too far away...

the opposite of love's indifference

I thrifted this dress sometime last winter.  At the time it had shoulder pads and went down to about mid calf, but I bought it because of the promising color and the pretty buttons down the front.  I just recently cut the length off (the shoulder pads were probably removed within an hour after purchase) and deemed it ready for wear.  The bunched up collar is actually the part of the dress I cut off.  I decided to wear it like a scarf to help disguise the unfortunate neckline (V necklines are not my favorite...I'm more of a scooped neck sort of girl).

the fab factor Q&A: ask me

In an effort to become more open and to give you, my darling readers, a chance to get to know me better, I've decided to hold a Q&A session.  Please feel free to ask me anything at all (it doesn't have to be style related!). Leave your question/s in the comment section of this post or shoot me an email (fabulosityfactor@yahoo.com). I'm planning on making a blog post (or several...maybe even a video blog...we'll see!) devoted to answering questions.

it's better to feel pain than nothing at all

Well, the new year definitely has not started the way I thought it would, but I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing. We're constantly warned to 'expect the unexpected,' and in this case the unexpected was definitely not expected, but I'm aiming to make the best of it. I've gotten laid off my job and, as if that wasn't enough, I've also been dragged through an emotional ring of fire (not in a good way). The life of a 'starving artist' may soon be upon me (I am exaggerating a bit). I am picking up work where I can, and I hope that in my new found spare time I can finally find time to figure out what the hell to do with my life come spring. The silver lining on this storm cloud is that I am actually going to have time! And I fully intend to devote a large part of it to revamping this blog and making it what I've always meant it to be. Come along for the ride?

we're all mad here

Jellilcle Cats are white and black,
Jellicle Cats are of moderate size;
Jellicle Cats jump like a jumping-jack,
Jellicle Cats have moonlit eyes.
They're quite enough in the morning hours,
They're quiet enough in the afternoon,
Reserving their terpsichorean powers
To dance by the light of the Jellicle Moon.
